Les Faveurs De Sophie (1984) is a French-language feature film from Dorcel. Sophie is beautiful and serious, approaching thirty without having enjoyed life. When her half-sister Annabelle dies in a car accident, Sophie unexpectedly inherits a luxurious private mansion. Discovering Annabelle’s diary, she learns that her half-sister had been a full-time call girl. Soon afterward, one of Annabelle’s clients arrives and mistakes Sophie for a professional pretending to be an innocent virgin. He ignores her protests and forces himself on her. Fascinated by the impressive pile of banknotes left on the bedside table, Sophie enters a different world. The film’s promotional description explores whether her subsequent life as a call girl is driven by lust, easy money, or simply her love of sex.
